Obituary of Ernest Silas

Ernest "Ernie" Silas, age 63, of Rockland, formerly of Pembroke, died on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Cedar Hill HealthCare Center in Randolph.
He was born on September 4, 1948, in Franklin, LA, to his late parents, Edward & Ora Mae Silas.
Ernie served 20 years in the Air Force and retired from Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, in 1989 as part of the Air Support Squadron. He traveled the country and world as an aircraft mechanic. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Lockheed Martin and Lear Seigler. He was an avid golfer and played wherever he traveled.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Couture) Silas; son and daughter-in-law, Edward & Emily Silas, and grandsons, Omar and Desmond Silas of Jamaica Plain; and son, Dr. Damon Silas of Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nikki Silas. He is also survived by six brothers and eight sisters: Edward Silas and Lionnel Silas of Georgia; Andrew Silas of Germany; Dionnel Silas of Louisiana; and Albert Silas, Mark Silas, LeAlice Silas Reed, Barbara Silas Bolden, Hilda Mae Silas, Patricia Silas, Melinda Silas Clark, Wanda Silas, Debra Silas Victor, and Laura Silas Miller, all of Texas. He was preceded in death by Ora Lee Silas and Wilfred Silas.
Calling hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Thursday, February 9, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home on Friday, February 10 at 9:30 AM.
Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Ernie's family would like to thank the employees of the Cedar Hill HealthCare Center in Randolph, MA for their friendship and compassionate care.
