Obituary of Julius Young
Please share a memory of Julius to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Julius Young, a Brockton resident for over 8 decades, died peacefully at his home in Brockton on July 5, 2012 at the age of 97.
Born in Providence, R.I., Julius was the son of the late Hyman Young and Rose Shneider Young, and was the cherished husband of the late Miriam Ashley Young. He was the beloved father of Judith Knight with whom he made his home, Dennis Young and his wife Linda of Bridgewater, and Bruce Young and his wife Marjie of Hanson. He also leaves six beloved grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many devoted nieces and nephews.
A 1932 Graduate of Brockton High School, he joined the family business with his father and brothers during the early Depression era, and for many decades was an officer and co-owner of Eureka Furniture, Eureka Upholstering, and the Young Brothers Mattress Co. on Centre Street in Brockton, continuing to work well into his 80’s.
Julius is also survived by his loving brothers, Irving and Norman and his wife Judy of Florida, and Elliot and his wife Betty of Florida and Natick, MA. He was also the beloved brother of the late Max, Louis, Samuel, and Joseph Young, and sister Sylvia Osheroff.
Truly a man, loved and admired and greatly respected by many, Julius will always be remembered for his love, commitment and devotion to his family, and his many extended family members, and for his ability to make and nurture lasting friendships where ever he went. Julius was a proud Master Mason and a 47 year member of the Baalis Sanford Lodge AF&AM of Brockton, The South Shore Shrine Club, and the Lodge Council Chapter Consistory of the Scottish Rite.
At his request, a gathering and funeral procession will form at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett Street, (Route 14), Pembroke on Tuesday, July 10 at 9:30 AM, followed by interment services at Sharon Memorial Park (Beersheba Section), 41 Dedham Street, Sharon.
Shiva will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
