I loved reading the comments and memories shared by so many of Art's colleagues and friends. In your comments you have listed some of the qualities about Art that our family has long been aware of. He was a rainbow of many colors( all the good ones)God must have needed another angel in heaven because he called Art to his side. Until we meet again rest in peace dear brother. (P.S. Art I still owe you $75.00)Christine McBain.

My sincerest sympathies to Art's family. I worked with Art in the mid 80's and throughout the 90's. He was what his obituary stated...the man you would go to looking for those insurance answers. He always had the answer. He was a kind and genuine human being. He was one of the best and well respected underwriters I had the pleasure of working with over the years. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

Dear family of Art, It was my privilege to know Art over the last 2 years since I started working at CNA. I would come in to Quincy to work once or twice a month and would sit in the space next to Art when I did. I just thought he was a super guy and only regret I didn't get to know him better. I was also born on July 6 in Boston (in 1957)- and was an avid sailor for a lot of my life, so we had a lot in common. As the obit already mentioned, he always had time to chat or help with business, always returned a phone call, and knew his business better than anyone. He helped me write a big account this past year by letting me in on his annual "Scooper Bowl" outing with an agent and another friend. I will miss Art very much, and know that you especially as his family will too. My heartfelt condolences go out to you. I thought the world of Art McBain.
Keith Kraner.

Thinking of Art and his love of sailing and the sea...
Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
God bless you Art...we'll miss you.

To Art's family,
Please accept my deepest condolences. As one of Arts best friends said, Art didn't say he loved you, he showed you every time. Nothing better describes Art. I worked with Art for over 3 years and he showed me what a great man should be. Heaven gained an angel and we lost a great man! I will miss Art tremendously and I know all those who knew him will do the same.

IEarly this morning I crossed paths with some past friends who worked with me at Continental Casualty in Waltham, MA. We were chatting over memories of when we all once worked together. It was just this morning that we spoke of others we had worked with and Art' was part of conversation We all remembered him as one of few special people in your life who was always willing to help when asked. I fondly remember a very special quality that Art had that drew the admiration of those he worked with, the rare quality of a gentleman who was never without a smile, or a helping hand extended to others.
My sincere condolences on your loss. Please take comfort in knowing that Art has been called home by a higher power to begin a journey anew for special reasons that our Lord had waiting for him. Bless you for sharing with all such a gifted man.

Thoughts and prayers go to Art's family during this extremely difficult time. I have worked with Art for almost 5 years at CNA. I work from my home, but whenever I came into the office and sat in front of him, it was always such a pleasure to see him. Anytime I had a question whether it be in the office or via phone, he was always so willing to help. He truly cared. He was such a funny man too. I will miss him greatly. RIP Art. You were one of the great ones.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. Art will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. He was one of the best colleagues and friend a person could have. He was highly respected and well thought of throughout the insurance industry. He was kind, caring, and unselfish. Art always made sure I got to my car safely when working late in the office, but not before he would go for a Dunkin Donuts run to get our evening coffee boost. We enjoyed talking sports and recapping the results of the Patriots and Red Sox games. My heart goes out to his family.
Most Sincerely, Laura Nicholas
