William C. Kay, of Carver and formerly of Weymouth, died on March 16, 2011. He was 88 years old. William, a World War II veteran, worked for Bethlehem Steel Shipyard for 24 years, and the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 17 for 19 years, and in retirement worked for Russ Electric in Hingham. William is the past master of Orphans Hope Masonic Lodge in Weymouth.
Beloved husband of Alice (Whitman) Kay. Loving father of Donald Kay of Quincy, Herbert and his wife Carolyn Kay of Pembroke, and Connie and her husband Mike Schatzl of E. Bridgewater. Brother of Jesse Rathke of Southborough, and the late James Kay, Agnes Mitchelson, and Marjorie King. Cherished grandfather of Lindsey Kay, Erica Kay, Courtney Schatzl, Angie Schatzl, and Missy Schatzl.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 20th at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver from 2-6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at United Parrish in Carver, on Monday, March 21st at 10:00 AM. Internment will be held on Friday, March 25th at the MA National Cemetery.
