Obituary of Genevieve Stauble
Genevieve Stauble, 92, of Duxbury passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Not only was she a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend, but she also brought joy to everyone around her. When she fully embraced her role as a grandmother, she chose the name GG, which stood for Grandma Genevieve, a name that quickly became legendary among her family and friends. Her strength, kindness, and wisdom will live on in our hearts forever.
GG will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, deep love and devotion to her family, and exemplary Scrabble skill. Although her life’s work was raising six children as a stay-at-home-mom, she also devoted considerable time volunteering at her churches. GG’s innovative mind and fierce determination never ceased to amaze. Whether figuring out how to entertain a child with something she dug out of her pocketbook, always knowing when one of her children or grandchildren needed her valuable guidance, or finding clever ways in her later years to overcome everyday physical challenges so she could live independently until just a few months ago, GG never stopped thinking creatively. Her courage, compassion, wit, patience, and intellect were a constant inspiration to her children and grandchildren.
Born in Providence, RI, GG was the daughter of the late Emilia (Jakubczyk) and Wasil Kowalchuk. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Mary Parys, John Kowalchuk, Irene Bromson, and Henry Kowalchuck. She lived in Providence until she married Robert (Bob) Stauble, then moved to Enfield, CT and West Hartford, CT where they raised their family. In retirement, she and Bob spent their summers on Cape Cod and winters in Hillsboro Beach, FL for more than 20 years before GG moved to Duxbury, MA.
GG’s family was her heart and soul. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 62 years, Bob. GG was the devoted and cherished mother of Robert E. Stauble Jr. of Plymouth, MA; Mary Cardillo of Boynton Beach, FL; Jennifer Smyth and her husband George Fetko of The Villages, FL; John Stauble and his wife Marlene of Enfield, CT; Patricia Cloherty and husband Brian of South Boston, MA; and Katy Horgan and her husband Brian of Duxbury, MA. She was the treasured grandmother to Amanda (AC) Stauble, Matthew Stauble, Robert Stauble III and his wife Maggie, Samantha Cardillo, Stephanie Stauble, Brian Cloherty, Lauren Cloherty, Anna Horgan, Lilly Horgan, and Matthew Horgan as well as great grandmother to Theodore and Charlotte Stauble. GG is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA.
