Obituary of Gina Girouard
Gina (Bombardieri) Girouard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, passed away on October 23, 2024, at the age of 59, following a courageous 5-year battle with leiomyosarcoma cancer.
Gina’s life was a testament to strength, resilience and passion. She faced every challenge with grace and stoicism. As a devoted caregiver, Gina took care of her immediate family, lovingly welcomed her mother into her home for several years before her passing, and embraced the role of foster parent, opening her heart and home to those in need.
After decades of successfully running her own hair salon, Gina was inspired to change careers and attained her master’s degree in acupuncture—a profession that ignited her passion for healing! Through her battle with cancer, Gina never stopped treating patients, finding joy in supporting others through their physical/mental struggles.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to doctor Dr. Bruno Bockorny, for his unconditional support for Gina’s determination to fight her cancer diagnosis with a combination of eastern and western medicine. His expertise and loving care will forever be remembered. The entire oncology and palliative care team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) also provided exceptional care in Gina’s final weeks.
Gina is survived by her loving husband, Geoff, her children, Christina (Cole) McDonnell, Nicholas Girouard, and Shivam Sachdeva; her grandson Atticus; and her siblings Marietta, Rocco (Merle), Louise, and brother in-law Jim. She is preceded in death by her parents Theresa and Rocco Bombardieri; her aunts Teresa, and Franny; (Frank), her uncle Nino (Mary); her sister Rosemarie; and brother-in-law, Dhawa Lama.
A visitation will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main St. Kingston, MA, on Saturday, November 23 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Gina’s memorial service starts at 4:00 PM at Cushing Memorial Hall in Norwell, MA followed by a collation.
In lieu of flowers, Gina’s family requests donations be made to BIDMC (Cancer Center Fund) (bidmc.org) or Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation (Lmsdr.org).
Gina will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of compassion and strength will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and patients.
