George T. Chandler of Kingston, passed away Sunday February 10, 2013 at Jordan Hospital leaving his life-long partner of fifty-eight years, Marilyn Brown. Son of Oakley and Frances Chandler, George graduated from Kingston High School in 1950. George was in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from 1952 - 1954. George was employed by the Town of Kingston Highway Department from 1954-1990, and the Kingston Fire Department Engine Company #1 from 1954-1987 with 33 years of service. Uncle to Susan and Robert O'Day, Wendy and Bill McLaughlin, Nancy and Lee Hartmann, Betsy Low, Paul and Kim Chandler, Karen Charles, Kathy and Don White, and Robert and Beth Badore. Great Uncle to Gregory, Kristin, John, Erika, Danielle, Douglas, Abigail, Caileigh, Nolan, Juliana, and Tristan. Predeceased by his brothers Frank Chandler and Robert Chandler.
Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street (Route 106) Kingston, on Friday February 15th from 4-6:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 10:00 AM at Central cemetery in Halifax.
