John P. Basler, "JB", age 69, of Plymouth, formerly of Kingston, died on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. John has changed his address to Heaven and is happy making his garden for our Lord. Born in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Joseph & Margaret (Watson) Basler. He graduated from Silver Lake High School. John was a professional painter and wallpaperer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in Korea with an honorable discharge. John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was an avid cribbage player, was most happy working in his garden and was a mentor to all. John was the beloved husband of Alice L. Basler; devoted father of Christopher Basler & his wife Rhonda, Shannan Basler Brown & her fiance Roger Neisler, Matthew J. Basler, Stephen P. Comeau and Kenneth R. Comeau; loving grandfather of Kyle, Francis, Angela, Alyson, Talia and great-grandfather of two; dear brother of Joseph G. Basler, Barbara J. Kallet, Carol A. Weymouth & her husband Leon and Janet A. Gavoni & her husband Ronald. MEMORIAL VISITING HOURS WILL BE HELD AT THE SHEPHERD FUNERAL HOME, 7 MATTAKEESETT STREET, (ROUTE 14), PEMBROKE, ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2013, FROM 4:00-7:00 PM. His memorial funeral Mass will be held at Saint Joseph's Church, 272 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 9:00 AM. Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John P. Basler's memory may be made to the Fisher House Boston, P.O. Box 230, South Walpole, MA 02071.
