Please share a memory of Winifred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Winifred A. (Sweeney) Troy, 91 years of age, of Duxbury, passed away on February 16, 2013, on what would have been her 67th anniversary of marriage to her late husband, Robert F. Troy.
Winnie was a graduate of Milton High and Bridgewater State College and was a proficient writer; winning national essay contests which awarded trips to Panama and Argentina by the time she graduated from high school. She married Bob, a lawyer in the Navy JAG Corps, and the family lived in Virginia, Japan, Milton and Duxbury.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary T. Troy of Duxbury; her sons, Robert S. Troy and his wife Sabina of Cohasset and Paul F. Troy and his wife Kathy of West Roxbury; her grandchildren, Kaitlin Kincaid and her husband Tim, Meghan Flanagan and her husband Gavin, and Paul F. Troy Jr., along with Robert, Michael and Matthew Troy. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Lynne Troy.
After her third child became a lawyer, her late husband, Bob, quipped: “You’re the only one in the family without a law degree and you are the best lawyer in the house.” Winnie enjoyed reading and quilting as well as travel. She was active in a variety of religious activities, including participating for many years in the Lazarus program at Holy Family Church. Winnie and Bob were given an award by the Archdiocese of Boston for their religious lay activities.
Please note that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Winnie's name to the Sisters of Saint Joseph, 637 Cambridge Street, Brighton, MA 02135.
