Obituary of Antone G. Andrews

Antone "Tony" G. Andrews, a long time Hanson resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 28, 2013, at the age of 89, from complications due to Leukemia.
He was the husband of his beloved-belated wife, Phyllis L. (Anderson) Andrews; his bride of 57 years. Tony led a very proud and active life protecting his country, serving his community and providing for his family. He was a Veteran of WWII based in Germany, under the Army branch of the service, and was an active member of the VFW, Post 697 in Whitman. He served as a Past, Post Commander, State Commander, Chief of Staff, Community Activities Chairman, served as a State Guard and was Chaplin of the Post for many years. He also received the Department of Veterans Administration Voluntary Services award. Tony was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Halifax, as well as a volunteer in many other community services.
He is survived by his daughters, Jolene Jordan-Lee, formally of Sylmar, CA and Joyce D. Jordan of Hanson; his six grandchildren, Sharon M. (Jordan) Mendes, Debra Costa, the late Dewayne Costa, Brian Lee, Michelle Lee and JaNelle Jordan; 14 great-grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett Street, (Route 14), Pembroke, on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 3:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Pembroke, on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 8:00 AM, followed by his funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 580 Monponsett Street, (Route 58), Halifax, at 9:00 AM.
Interment will follow at the Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.
Gathering at the VFW, 95 Essex Street, Whitman, after service.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in honor of Tony to two organizations: The American Heart Association and the Red Cross.
