Velma I. (Glass) Wakefield, age 70, of Duxbury, died on Friday, June 14, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Eugene & Irene (Bennett) Glass. Velma was a lifelong resident of Duxbury, graduated from Duxbury High School, Class of 1960. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening. Velma's passion was her love for being with her grandchildren.
Velma was the beloved wife of Ronald Wakefield; devoted mother of Pamela Taylor & her husband Thomas of Kingston, Ronald Wakefield, Jr. & his wife Kim of Plympton and Tara Johnson & her husband Robert of Kingston; loving grandmother of Jaime, Jodi, Hannah, Ronald III, Robert Jr., Andrew and Seth; dear sister of Janet Brown of Plymouth, Patricia Bryant of Middleborough and the late Nancy McAloon, Barbara Ribeiro and Eugene Glass, Jr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Kingston, on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 9:00 AM, followed by her funeral Mass at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury.
