Donald M. Martinez, age 69, of Duxbury, died on Sunday, July 21, 2013, after a long battle with lymphoma. He was a sheet metal mechanic for Snow & Jones. He previously lived in Attleboro and was a slitter operator for St. Regis Paper, fortifier for 20 years. Donald was active in the Paperworker's Union for many years as a shop steward and local union president. Travelling was a passion of his while exploring over 30 countries. He combined his love of history and travel visiting Egypt, Thailand, Europe and Central America. Donald enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping and hiking across America. He also enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden winning many blue ribbons at the Marshfield Fair. Born in Brockton and raised in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Barbara Taylor and Manuel Martinez. Donald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanne Fontaine Martinez; his daughter, Justine Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughter, Cynthia Kerr of Boise, Idaho and grandson, Glenn Charles Wiley of Attleboro. He is also survived by his brother, David Martinez of Taunton and his sister, Jenny Hall of San Antonio, Texas. Memorial visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 3:00-6:00 PM, followed by a service at 6:00 PM. Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donald's memory may be made to the Jordan Hospital Club Cancer Center, 275 Sandwich Street, Plymouth, MA 02360.
