Jeffrey Daybill Howard, 68, of Sandwich MA, passed away on November 23, 2013 at his home after a long battle with brain cancer. He was born in Paterson, NJ on June 2, 1945, the son of Lucius and Evelyn (Daybill) Howard. Jeff attended Duxbury High School and was a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in sociology and worked in the manufacturing industry throughout his life.
Jeff was a man with many hobbies and thoroughly enjoyed nature and all it had to offer. He was an avid golfer; fly fisherman, hunter and gardener. In his younger years he loved to play hockey, tennis and softball. There was never a moment when he didn’t have a book or newspaper in his hand and he loved talking about what he was reading. Jeff truly enjoyed meeting new people and could spark up a conversation with anyone he met. He was dedicated to his wife and family and would do anything for them.
Jeff is survived by his wife Lynne (Phillips) Howard whom he married on June 26, 1966. He said he knew he would marry Lynne the first time he saw her in the third grade. Jeff also leaves behind three daughters, Pamela Grotenhuis, Deborah and Amy Howard, two son in laws, Dirk Grotenhuis and Jason Leduc, and four grandsons, Thor and Lars Grotenhuis, and Turner and Ruder Leduc.
Burial will be private.
A memorial for a celebration of his life will be held in the spring.
