Carl G. Atwood, age 82, of Kingston, formerly of Abington, died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at his home.
Born on July 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Freeman G. & D. Helen (Pool) Atwood. Carl was a graduate of Abington High School, Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952, serving in Korea and Japan. Carl worked his entire life in the construction industry retiring as Superintendent of Streets for the Town of Kingston. He belonged to the Plymouth County Highway Association, Hilltop AA, Plymouth County Water Work, Massachusetts Highway Association, Barnstable County Public Works Association and the Coner Stone Lodge AF & AM.
Carl was the beloved husband for 60 years to Barbara A. (Titus) Atwood; devoted father of the late Robert Atwood, Freeman (Skip) Atwood II, and John Atwood; loving grandfather of Thomas Atwood of New Hampshire and great-grandfather of Blake, Dylan and Jenna; brother of the late Carol Spaziani and brother-in-law of Cheryl Peterson of Kingston.
Memorial services will be held at the Kingston Baptist Church, 211 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Monday, December 16, 2013, at 11:00 AM.
Interment services will be private.
