Obituary of Bertha Potter Regienus

Bertha Potter Regienus, age 92, passed away on January 8, 2014, in Kingston, MA. She was born February 17, 1921, in Oakham, MA. Bertha's parents were Joseph and Nellie Potter of Barre. She had six brothers and four sisters. Upon graduation from Barre High School in 1939, she married Bernard (Brownie) Regienus who predeceased her in 1990. She is survived by her brother, Frank Potter, of North Brookfield, and sister, Dorothy Elliot, of Northampton, as well as her three children; her son, Peter Regienus of Barre, and daughters, Elaine Regienus-Gravbelle of Torrance, CA and Janice Bruno of Kingston, MA. She is also survived by three grandchildren; James D. Thomasell of Bethesda, MD, Jennifer Britt of Ocoee, FL and Michael Bruno of Seffner, FL as well as six great-grandchildren; Seamus Thomasell and John, David, Kaylee, Karalyn and Brandon Connors. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Bertha worked at Paul Revere Life Insurance Co. of Worcester for many years. She was an active member of the Barre Congregational Church, the Council on Aging, the Barre Historical Society, Barre Golden Age and the Paul Revere Retirees' Club. Bertha enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, music, bowling, and travelling with members of her family, friends and other Paul Revere employees. She loved to knit and many of her sweaters and hats were donated to the annual Congregational Church Christmas Fair in Barre. Some hats were even taken to Russia for a children's orphanage. A funeral service will be held at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 So. Barre Road, in Barre, on Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Glen Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Barre Congregational Church, 30 Park Street, Barre, MA 01005, or a charity of your choice.
