Obituary of John M. McPartlan

John McPartlan of Duxbury, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014. He was 56 years old. John was born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 12, 1957, to Donald and Ann McPartlan. He graduated from Mineola High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Minnesota in 1979. He married his wife, Bernadette, in Sligo, Ireland on July 26, 1986. John fought end-stage renal disease, heart disease and prostate cancer. That he survived as long as he did is a mighty testament to his strength and fortitude. A gracious, sincere spirit, John dedicated his time outside of work to his music and writing, recording full-length albums, performing with worship teams at multiple area churches, woodworking and instrument building, helping the homeless, and was always an ear to all, burden to none. John is survived by his wife and three children; Claire, 24, Brian, 22 and Michael, 18. He is also survived by his parents, his sister, Kathy Keenan of Marshfield, his brother, Donald of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (rt. 106), Kingston from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 16th. A second viewing will take place Friday morning at St. Paul's Church of the Nazarene in Duxbury at 10:00 a.m.with funeral service at 11:00, with a reception to follow. A private interment will be held at a later date.
