Margaret (Santos) Monteiro, 88, of Carver, passed away on January 22, 2014, one week short of her 89th birthday. Born in Carver, she is the daughter of the late John Santos, and Rosemond Santos (Silva). She loved the Bible, and was an active member of the Carver congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for more than 70 years. Margaret was a retired Nurse's Aide at Taunton State Hospital. She loved to dance and enjoyed listening to music, especially the silky voice of Nat King Cole. She also looked forward to spending valuable time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children: Darrolyn Rocha of Carver, Erwin Monteiro, Sr. and his wife Bonnie of Phoenix, AZ, and Gene Monteiro and his wife Eilene of Cranston, RI. She is also survived by her siblings: Carl (Big John) Santos, Sr, Mary Almeida, Mitchell Santos, Sr., Jerome Santos, Sr., and Darrell Silva, Sr., all of Carver. Cherished grandmother of; Erwin Jr, Joseph Jr, Dana, Robin, Dwayne, Melanie, Tiffany, Michele, Jodi, and Keri, as well as 14 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 26th, from 2-6:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 AM at Lakenham cemetery in Carver, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 116 Wareham St, Middleboro
