Ellen C. Shawnessy, of Carver, formerly of Holbrook, passed away on January 26, 2014. She was 94 years old. Beloved wife of the late George Shawnessy. Loving mother of Carol A. LaPorte and her husband Donald of Duxbury, and Donna L. and her husband, the late Robert Swinamer of Ocala, FL. Sister to Jane Avery of Woodlands, TX, and the late Dorothy Woodlock, and Alexander Buiel. Cherished grandmother of Douglas Reed of Pembroke, Donald LaPorte Jr of CT, George Reed of Falmouth, Michelle LaPorte of Duxbury, Shawn LaPorte of Duxbury, and Todd LaPorte of Marshfield. Great grandmother of Sam, Nate, Lilly, Jack, Finn, Ellie, and Jeremy. Ellen is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 30th from 5-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 31st, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 130 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. Interment will be at the Mayflower cemetery in Duxbury.
