Obituary of Phyllis Frazar

Phyllis (Peterson) Frazar, 92, of Duxbury, passed away on February 22, 2015. Phyllis attended Duxbury schools graduating from Duxbury High School in 1939. She graduated from Massachusetts State College, (now UMass Amherst), graduating with honors in 1944. Following World War II she married her loving husband, Edmund Frazar. After college, Phyllis worked in Boston, and later taught Primary School in Braintree after raising her two sons in Weymouth. Later, Phyllis and Edmund moved back to Duxbury where they enjoyed life as active senior citizens. Phyllis enjoyed various crafts, gardening and Duxbury beach. She taught swimming and volunteered for many causes including hospice, teaching children with special needs to swim, and donating her time working at the thrift store in Duxbury. In addition to her husband, she leaves her two sons, Robert of Russell MA and Thomas of Underhill VT as well as her sister Ann Wiswell of Topsfield. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Peterson and her granddaughter Alyssa Frazar. She also leaves three grandchildren; Christian Frazar, Tiffany Rudloe and Sarah Frazar, as well as four great grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Blanche and Leroy Peterson.
A memorial service will be planned for the spring at Holy Family Church in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Phyllis's name to a charity of ones choice.
