Obituary of Daniel P. Grimes

Daniel Patrick Grimes, 43, of Carver, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Karen Grimes; loving father of Megan, Emma, Julia, and Ryan; cherished son of Mary and James Grimes, Sr. of Carver; brother of James Grimes, Jr. of Middleboro, Michael Grimes of Carver, Meredith Blakesley of Nobleboro, Maine, and Andrew Grimes of Mansfield. Dan is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, friends, and in-laws whom he loved very much. After graduating from Carver High School in 1990, Dan went on to earn his degree in Healthcare Administration from Bridgewater State College in 1994 where he excelled as a football player. Dan spent his twenty year professional career serving the elderly as a nursing home administrator. Since 2006, he has been the Regional Director of Operations for HealthBridge Management in Massachusetts. Dan married his high school sweetheart, Karen Preston, in 1999 and together they built their life and home in Carver with four beautiful children. He was an extraordinary father involved in all of the children's lives, sharing his passion for sports with his children through coaching basketball and flag football. Dan's devotion did not just stop with his family, always willing to help anyone in need, putting his needs last. Dan's hobbies included fishing, basketball, karaoke, flag football, quoting movies and the occasional good natured debate! In his short life, Dan touched the lives of many people. One of his favorite movies was Braveheart, which he quoted often. The following line from Braveheart captures the essence of Daniel P. Grimes: "Every man dies...not every man truly lives." Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 20th from 2-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral mass will be held at St. Kateri Church, 126 South Meadow Rd, Plymouth on Saturday, March 21st at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at the Lakenham cemetery in Carver.
