Barbara H. (Henneberger) McClosky, age 97, of Duxbury, passed away after a lengthy illness, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, surrounded by her dear friends, at the Golden Living Center in Plymouth.
Barbara was born in California in 1917. She was a graduate of Vassar College, Class of 1938, where she was a piano major and studied voice. She did post-graduate work in New York and studied abroad at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.
She taught piano at Syracuse University from 1945-1946 and was a voice coach at Boston University Arts Center, Bradford College, Boston Conservatory of Music and University of Lowell, and taught privately at her home, from 1945 to 1985.
Barbara married her late husband, David B. McClosky, in 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland. The couple moved to Duxbury in the late 1940's where both resided for the remainder of their lives.
Barbara was a member of the Duxbury Conservation Commission, Massachusetts Teachers' Association, and National Association of Teachers of Singing. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women. Barbara and her late husband co-authored a book in 1984, entitled Voice in Song and Speech.
She is survived by her late husband's nieces, Robin A. MacInnis, Susan R. McClosky and Rebecca Parris, and by her dear friends, Yvonne and Hal Mosher.
Funeral and interment services will be private.
