Thelma M. (Andrus) Newton, of Duxbury, was 92 years young when she died, surrounded with family, on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at the Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston.
Thelma was born and raised on a farm in Wolcott, Vermont, the daughter of the late Ernest & Gertrude (Allen) Andrus.
She was the wife of the late Malcolm E. Newton. After marrying, she lived in Dorchester, Weymouth and Norwell. She worked in many jobs over the years including retail and manufacturing. Thelma loved to garden, bake incredible chocolate chip cookies and play cards. Nothing made her happier than winning at Rummy 500.
Her greatest love was her family. She will be dearly missed by her children; David E. Newton & his wife Nilma of Weymouth, Donald H. Newton & his wife Dorothy of North Berwick, Maine, Ronald E. Newton & his wife Judy of Holden and Sandra M. Orcutt & her husband Bruce of Kingston; along with 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. She was the sister of the late Alton Andrus, Leon Andrus and Lou Carrow.
Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
Her funeral service will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Kingston, on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 10:00 AM.
Interment to follow at the Washington Street Cemetery, Washington Street, Norwell.
