Obituary of Charles M. Cook

Charles (Charlie) M. Cook, Jr., age 89, affectionately known as "Pa", "Junior" or "Cookie", of Cranberry Village, Carver, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at the Veterans Hospital in West Roxbury.
Charlie was born in Sandwich, MA, on April 5, 1926, to the late Charles Sr. & Mable Cook of Sandwich, MA. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army, Technician Fifth Grade, as a truck driver, in the Ardennes and Rhineland Campaigns, European Theater. Charlie was awarded a Purple Heart Medal along with additional service medals.
Charlie was preceded in death by his son, George "Butch" Cook, his four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine A. (Delaney) Cook of Carver, MA of 22 years; his step-daughter, Regina Baker and granddaughter, Sophia of Plymouth, MA; daughter-in-law, Joanne Cook of Carver, MA; grandson, Kevin Cook & his wife Linda and two great-grandsons, Logan and Seamus of Rockland, MA; grandson, Steven Cook and great-grandson, Christopher of Plymouth, MA; grandson, Ryan Cook of Cocoa Beach, FL and niece, Becky & her husband Robert Ragazzini of Plymouth, MA.
In his younger years, Charlie worked as a fisherman in Plymouth, MA, and his love for the open water never faded. He moved on to become a truck driver and retired in 2009 after 33 years of working for Bryne Sand and Gravel in Middleborough, MA. Charlie was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 1822, Plymouth, MA.
There will be no visiting hours.
Interment services with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Bennington Boulevard, Bourne, on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charles M. Cook may be made to the VA Boston Healthcare System - West Roxbury, Attention: Palliative ICU & CCU Care, 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
