Edward Robert Champignie, age 77, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Plymouth Rehabilitation Center in Plymouth. He was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Edward & Ethel (Butler) Champignie. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. AirForce during the Korean Conflict. Edward and his wife Beverly of 53 years, raised a family in Kingston while working as a produce manager at Stop and Shop for 42 years until he retired. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He was also very involved in his grandchildren's lives. Edward was the beloved husband of Beverly (Chase) Champignie of Kingston; devoted father of Janell (Champignie) Croce of Kingston, Kevin L. Champignie of Bridgewater and the late Jeffrey R. Champignie; dear brother of Beverly Occhipinti of Brockton and Andrew Champignie of Whitman and loving grandfather of five grandchildren, whom he adored, Mari E. Croce, Cameron C. Champignie, Kyle R. Champignie, Maeja M. Croce and Kaelani B. Champignie as well as several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett Street, (Route 14), PEMBROKE, on Friday, February 19, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home, PEMBROKE, on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 9:00 AM, followed by his funeral Mass at Saint Joseph's Church, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), KINGSTON, at 10:00 AM. Interment services will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, www.alzfdn.org
