Obituary of Paul D. Carlino

Paul D. Carlino, 81, of Pembroke passed away on March 26, 2016. He is survived by his devoted partner and wife of 25 years, Sharon Carlino of Pembroke. Beloved father to Lynne Mullarkey of Braintree. Loving brother to Michael Carlino, and Marie George both of Braintree. Paul is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren He was predeceased by his son Paul Carlino, parents Angelo and Ida (DiBenedetti) Carlino, an his brother Daniel Carlino. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 29th from 4-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral home, 7 Mattakeesett St (Rt. 14) Pembroke. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 30th at 10:00 AM at St. Theclas church, 145 Washington St, Pembroke. Interment will be at Center cemetery in Pembroke. Paul thoroughly enjoyed his remarkable 46 year career with Stop & Shop and retired in 1997 as director of safety. He loved family (including his four legged furry ones), his Italian heritage, friends, and life in Pembroke. He loved to travel, and he and his wife enjoyed numerous trips to Florida, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. He looked forward to playing Texas Hold Em with his poker league, and socializing with his family and friends whom he frequently gathered with. Naturally talented, versed, and creative in many ways, he was a wonderful speaker, business manager, gardner, wood crafter, and designer. Paul enjoyed constructing elaborate bird houses, feeders, antique cars, trucks, trains, bookcases, walking sticks, and numerous other items. He had the eye to put things in there proper placement, be it at home or work. His attention to detail was phenomenal, and he was extremely neat, and organized. Paul had many outstanding traits and being intelligent, humorous, intuitive, religious, and proud are just a few. He was a quick study, easily imitated the nuances of others, had great wit, always shared a funny and entertaining story, and had a wonderful memory with great attention to detail. He was well versed with every subject and current day events. Paul also had the natural ability to see the truth in all situations, and never went into a situation with preconceived notions. He lived in the present moment, and had great common sense. He never asked anyone for anything, is a self made man, whose hard work and ethic made him successful. The glass was always half full with Paul, and being positive, and confident are natural qualities that came easy to him. He never gave up, and failure was never an option for him. In addition he was also a realist who was accepting and not challenging, always had an ear to listen and not to judge, and offer advice and assistance when requested. He said it like it is to family, friend or stranger, never a person to sugar coat, and always to speak the truth. Paul was an honorable man who always fulfilled his obligations and did the right thing. His motto was to "always be strong, and do things in a nice way" He was incredibly strong mentally, physically and spiritually. His great faith in God and himself combined with hard work always resulted in accomplishing any task that was presented to him. He often told me "God gave me the tools, and if it's to be, it's up to me". When he was younger, if he was not walking over mountains, he easily walked through them. He loved a challenge and always handled them easily and effortlessly.
