Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Lackens Guba, 87, of Kingston, entered into eternal rest on April 13, 2016, at the Skilled Care Center of Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston, after a period of failing health. She was the daughter of the late Emil F. Guba and Georgia Lackens Guba. She was born on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1929 and grew up in Waltham, graduating from Waltham High in 1946
She entered Clark University in Worcester following High School graduation then transferred to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she studied biology, and music, graduating in 1950. Following graduation she taught nature studies, conservation, and biology in Worcester, Newton, and Westwood schools.
Her first love was music, which she taught in Winchendon Public Schools. Wanting to improve her music education, she entered The Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music in 1969. Following graduation, she obtained positions teaching music in Monson and Longmeadow.
She came to Kingston in 1973 to teach music in Kingston Elementary School where she taught for 3 years. In 1976 she found the Kingston School of Music where she taught and ran the school for 35 years. She had a positive influence on many young lives. Many of her students went on to successful careers in music. A major event in Annie’s life was organizing and directing a band of Silver Lake students for Kingston’s annual Luminary celebration.
In addition to music, Anne enjoyed many athletic activities such as cycling, cross country, skiing, tennis, and swimming.
She was a member of Mayflower Congregational church, serving in various capacities. A principle example was the Caring Hearts Group, a ministry for adults with special needs. For a time, she also organized a small band of young people who played special music during worship services.

Guba of Baytown, TX, Winifred McClallen of Rutland, VT, Lance Bibbins of Nashua, NH, Balin Bibbins of Kennesaw, GA, John Lackens of Minneapolis, MN, and her nephews David F.
