Jean Lindsay (Younie) Hardy, 84, of Pembroke, died peacefully in her home on December 14, 2016. Jean was born August 20, 1932 in Howick, Quebec, Canada. The daughter of the late Grace and J. Roy Younie. She was the youngest of five; two brothers, Cecil and Ken Younie, and two sisters; Ruth Carson and Margaret McCoy. Jean graduated from Montreal General Hospital Nursing School in 1953. She then married William Ross Hardy in 1955 and they began their family in Quebec before moving to the States in 1965. Jean was a nurse for 40 years retiring from South Shore Hospital in 1993. Jean’s family and friends were her passion and joy. Jean was a member of the Red Hat Society and an avid bridge player at the Marshfield Senior Center. Jean is survived by her four sons, Douglas R. Hardy and his wife Judy of Beverly, David Hardy and his wife Christina of Plymouth, Donald Hardy and his wife Leslie of Nahant, and John Hardy and his wife Robyn of Plymouth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Sarah dePontbriand, Katelyn Holway, Alison Dexter, Stephen Hardy, Andrew Hardy, Lindsy Hardy, Jillian Hardy, and five great grandchildren. Visiting Hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett Street (rt. 14) in Pembroke, on Monday, December 19th from 4-7:00 pm. Church Services will be at First Congressional Church of Hanover, 17 Silver Street, Hanover, on Tuesday, December 20th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations to can be made to the American Lung Association at lung.org.
