Obituary of Edwin Toy

Edwin “Eddie” G Toy, of Carver, passed away peacefully December 30, 2016 at Life Care Center of Plymouth at the age of 94. Edwin was born December 22, 1922 to the late Caroline Davis and the late George Toy.
Edwin was born and educated in Boston MA but lived the majority of his life in Carver MA where he spent his time helping others with yard work etc. He is well-known for riding his bicycle and walking around the towns of Plymouth and Carver for 20 + years. Some longtime residents may also remember him from time spent enjoying coffee and company at Dandy Donuts. He enjoyed the outdoors, the Three Stooges, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Edwin served as a Heavy Machine Gunner in the Army in World War II and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.
In addition to his parents, Edwin was predeceased by his son Joseph Toy, his wife Lucy Toy, his siblings Arthur Toy, Thelma Kutzer, and Madeline Toy.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Janet and Stephen Kennedy of Carver, Josephine and Joseph Goulart of New Bedford, Bernice and Allen Pearl of Palmyra ME, and Brendalee Toy of Fall River, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and his longtime companion Emma Murray.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (rt. 58) Carver on Tuesday January 3rd from 4-7:00 pm. Burial will take place at Bourne National Cemetery Wednesday January 4th.
