KINGSTON - Carol L. (Westgate) Voght, 72, longtime resident of Kingston, passed away on January 2, 2017 at her home due to complications from ALS of which she was diagnosed in September 2016.
Daughter of Lena (Nardozzi) and the late Lawrence B. Westgate. Carol was a 1962 graduate of Silver Lake and a 1966 graduate of Bridgewater State. She taught third grade at South River School in Marshfield and was a substitute teacher in area schools for many years. She was an employee of Dr. Kenneth Goldberg, DDS for 25 years until her retirement in 2013. She loved to read, watch the Patriots, travel with her "Cruise Group", and spend February in Florida, but most of all she loved spending time with family & friends.
Devoted wife for 22 years of Leo C. Voght until his death in 1989. She is survived by her mother Lena of Kingston. Also survived by her loving companion of 20 years, John P. Carey of Kingston, children Sharon Carmody and her husband Thomas of Longmeadow, MA, Andrew Voght and his fiancee Allyson Long of Kingston, and grandchildren Ryan and Caroline Carmody of Longmeadow. Sister of M. Linda Westgate of Wrentham and J. Bradford Westgate and his wife Betsy of Nashua, NH and sister-in-law of Linda McClellan of SC. Also survived by nieces Barbara Halevi of NH, Rachael Leonard of FL and nephew Bradford Westgate of MI.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 5, from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 6 at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston at 9:00AM. Internment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston.
