Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CARVER – Edward B. “Eddie” Grassi, age 50, died unexpectedly at his home in Carver on April 3, 2017.
Edward was a lifelong resident of Carver, born at Tobey Hospital on June 8, 1966. He attended Carver primary and elementary schools followed by Plymouth-Carver Intermediate School. He then studied electronics at Old Colony Technical High School in Rochester, graduating in 1984. Soon after high school, Eddie began working as a union laborer out of Brockton, MA Local 721 Laborers Union. He retained his union membership throughout his entire life. In addition to working out of Local 721, Eddie worked for over 30-years on a part-time basis for Goliath Company owned by his brother-in-law, Jeff Reed.
Eddie enjoyed fishing local ponds with friends and family, as well as visiting the great north woods of Maine with his brother-in-law, Jeff and hunting buddies. He was always up for a good game of cribbage and kept the tradition of his parents’ delicious homemade stuffed quahogs recipe alive by making them annually at the Reed’s house with Jeff. Eddie also loved spending time with family and friends watching our great New England sports teams, particularly the Bruins and the Patriots.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Edward N. and Joan N. (Kallio) Grassi. He was a loving brother to Stephen Grassi of Carver; Brian Grassi and his wife, Michelle, of Plymouth; Diana Maloney and her partner, Andy Flynn, of Concord, N.C.; Donna Reed and her husband, Jeffrey, of Carver; and Sharen Lee and her husband, Ned, of Staten Island, N.Y.. Edward was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews who loving referred to him as “Uncle Eddie.”
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours for Edward at Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street/Route 58, Carver, MA on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, also at Shepherd’s, followed by interment at Union Cemetery in South Carver.
As Eddie struggled with addiction for much of his adult life, his family would appreciate donations in Edward’s name to Plymouth Recovery Center, Inc., P.O.Box 922, Manomet, MA 02345 in lieu of flowers.
