She enjoyed working with local girl scouts, and Sunday school with the local Baptist Church. She was one of the founding school committee members for Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical high school, and was a secretary at the Governor John Carver elementary school for 8 years. She was also a member of the Ocean Spray Cranberry Growers Assoc. Joans most treasured times were spent with family and friends. Joan enjoyed writing, photography, spending time with her friends, traveling, and family humor. It was often said she should have bought stock in Hallmark as she would remember dates, sending cards to almost everyone she knew. Her family joked that her only hobby was "talking", and her voice will be sorely missed by all.
