William A. Poellmitz of Duxbury died on October 15, 2007. He was 82 years old. Mr. Poellmitz is the son of the late William Charles Poellmitz and Lena Bertha (Pross) Poellmitz. He was born in Mount Vernon, New York, and grew up in New Rochelle, New York, where he graduated from high school. Mr. Poellmitz enlisted in the Army in May 1943, serving with the 102nd Infantry Division in Europe, and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for heroic service in combat. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1946, he attended Union College in Schenectady, New York, graduating with a BSEE degree in 1950. Mr. Poellmitz was employed by General Electric, RCA, and Fenwal Corporation before starting his own business in 1966, specializing in the marketing of high-technology products to third-world countries. He served as General Manager of Poellmitz Associates for more than 35 years until his retirement in 2003. Mr. Poellmitz was an avid outdoorsman, and spent much of his free time camping and boating. He was also a highly skilled craftsman and machinist. He is survived by his Wife, Grace (Stroh) Poellmitz, to whom he was married for 61 years. Father of William C. Poellmitz and his wife Karen of Southborough, Susan P. McNary of Marshfield, and the late Kathryn Cook. Grandfather of Emma and Karl Poellmitz of Southborough, and Benjamin A. McNary of Marshfield.
