Lela Belle Loring of Carver, and originally of Logan, Ohio, died on June 27, 2008. She was 85 years old. The eighth of eleven children, Lela underwent Naval boot training at Hunter College in New York before serving as a Yeoman Second Class WAVE in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1943 she was one of eight chosen to serve as an honor guard for former first lady Mrs. Calvin Coolidge. Shortly after receiving an honorable discharge she married and settled in Avon with the late Seaman First Class Paul S. Loring. In Avon Mrs. Loring was an active member of the Avon Baptist Church, and an employee of Brockton Savings bank for twenty years. Mrs. Loring is the mother of 3, grandmother of 4, great grandmother of 1, and caregiver to countless others. She will be deeply missed by both her family and the community with whom she for so many years shared her compassion, love, wisdom, stories, humor, and tireless sense of obligation, and duty.
Mrs. Loring is the mother of Paul Michael Loring of Murietta, CA, Patricia Bell of Carver, and Victoria O’Brien of Hemet, CA. Sister of Ralph Riddlebarger of Logan, OH, Charles Riddlebarger of Columbus, OH, and Clara Richcreek of Fairfax, VA. Grandmother of Barbara Macchi of hershey, PA, Diana Banville of Carver, Paul White of Waterbury, CT, and Kimberly Bell of Chelsea. Great Grandmother of Frankie Marie Banville. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 3rd at 11;00 AM at the Central cemetery in Randolph.
