Florence T. (Maddox) DeWitt, 76, of Plymouth died on October 25, 2008. Born January 22, 1932 in Bay Bulls, Newfoundland to Stephen and Mary (Leonard) Maddox. Mrs. DeWitt lived in Springfield, OH from 1951-1983 before moving to Digby, Nova Scotia, Canada for 8 years where she owned and operated “Florence’s Chowder House.” Florence retired to Vero Beach, FL for a few years, before moving to MA to be close to family members after the passing of her husband, and being diagnosed with renal cancer in 1994.
Wife of the late Olly DeWitt. Mrs. DeWitt leaves behind her Sons; Paul DeWitt of ME, Kevin DeWitt of Plymouth, Christopher DeWitt and his wife Shana of OH, and one daughter Margie Buckley and her husband Paul of Wareham. Sister of Ann McClary of Kingston. Grandmother of 11, and great grandmother of 9. Preceded in death by a loving daughter Stephanie A. DePriest. Brothers Stephen Maddox, Nicholas Maddox. Sisters Mary Raymond, Kathleen Westcott, and Marjorie Pendergast.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 29th from 5-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 30th at St. Joseph’s Church, 272 Main St. (Rt. 106) Kingston at 10:00AM. Burial will be at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
