Obituary of Paul K. Arsenian
Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paul Kenneth Arsenian, age 83, of Duxbury, was taken from us unexpectedly on July 6, 2009. Paul was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Duke) Arsenian. He was the loving father to Elizabeth Arsenian of Duxbury, and the beloved brother to Betty (Arsenian) Adams of Providence, RI. He also leaves his first cousins Keran and Aram Chobanian of Belmont and Natick. Among many friends and relatives Paul also leaves behind his female companion of many years, Nora Neval of Florham Park, NJ.
Paul was born in Providence, RI on March 24, 1926 to the late John Paul Arsenian of Armenia and the late Elizabeth (Chatalian) Arsenian of Yugoslavia. Paul grew up in Providence, RI and attended Lockwood High of Warwick, RI. He also attended Brown University and was enlisted into the U.S. Army where he served from 1944-1946. Paul was honorably discharged as a Private First Class Lineman of the 97th Field Artillery Battalion. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal, the World War II Victory medal, Good Conduct medal, and the Army Occupation Medal. He returned to Brown University on the GI Bill and graduated in 1950 with an AB in Economics. He then attended Boston University School of Law and graduated in 1957 and received his Bachelor of Law degree.
Paul was very active in Duxbury Community Services and received the Presidential Life Time of Service Award for volunteerism in 2008. He was also awarded Duxbury Community Volunteer 2009 Civic Contributions “Unsung Hero” Award, which was celebrated at a special dinner in Duxbury on April 22, 2009, which he was truly honored by. Among his many accomplishments is the cooking of “thousands” of pancakes for the annual Mothers Day breakfast in Duxbury. Paul experienced great enjoyment from the Boston sports teams, particularly the Red Sox and Patriots, and to see the two World Series was a “twice in a lifetime” miracle. He also enjoyed music and the arts and for over 50 years attended “Armenian Night at Pops”. He was a respected member of the community, and will surely be missed by all. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 12th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral service will be held at the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont St (Rt. 3A), Duxbury Mon. at 10am. Internment will be at the Mayflower cemetery in Duxbury.
