Arlene E. Caswell, of Hanson. November 25, 2009. She was 79 years old. Ms. Caswell has been a Hanson resident for the past 31 years, and is formerly of Bridgewater. Born in Brockton on February 1, 1929, she is the daughter of the late Helen E. (Randall) and Alton E. Caswell. Ms. Caswell graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1946. Following her graduation she attended Brockton Business College, Remington Rand Business Machines School in Boston, and took courses at Hickok Secretarial School, and Massasoit Community College. She worked as a bookkeeper at Untied Shoe Machinery Co. in Boston and Whitman for 32 years, and Universal Products Co. of Brockton for 18 years until her retirement in 1996. She was a P.N.G. of Seven Stars Rebekah Lodge of Bridgewater and a member of Vida Rebekah Lodge #43 I.O.O.F. Whitman. Ms. Caswell was also a past Worthy Matron of Bridgewater chapter of the Eastern Star and a member of the Pilgrim Chapter #89 O.E.S. in Whitman. Ms. Caswell also loved to read and work on her crafts. Ms. Caswell is survived by her close friends, George Derby, Paul Pedretti, Gary Stetson, Christine Kelly, and Kenneth Brown. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 1st from 3-7:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St. (Rt. 14) Pembroke. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd at 10:30AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home. Internment will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in E. Bridgewater. Following the internment, all are invited to a collation at the Tri Town Masonic Temple, 37 Franklin St (Rt. 27) E. Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Standish Humane Society, PO Box 634, Duxbury, MA 02331, or to a charity of your choice.
