William J. Doherty, of Carver, March 12, 2010. He was 76 years old.
Throughout William’s life, he touched the lives of thousands of people, especially children. His work with scouts, local sports programs, and his role on park and recreation committee’s has enhanced the lives of many children. He helped bring hope and happiness to people who will never know him other than as Santa, a role he looked forward to play year after year at Edaville Railroad, and elsewhere.
William is survived by his wife Anne, and four children; Elizabeth Gorman of Lakeville, William Doherty of Holland Park, NY, Paul Doherty of Stamford, CT, and Kenneth Doherty of Plympton. Brother of John Doherty of Duxbury, Mary Doherty of W. Roxbury, and Ray Foley of Dedham. William is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 16th from 4-8:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral service will be held at Church of our Saviour, 120 Centre St. Middleboro, on Wednesday, March 17th at 10:00AM. Internment will be private.
