Obituary of Marguerite Y. Davis

Marguerite Young (Boss) Davis “Meg” of 121 Templewood drive Duxbury, formerly of Kingston MA, died after a long illness peacefully and in the company of family at the home of her son Charles Barns "Barney" Davis on April 15, 2010. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of Charles Acors Barns and Marguerite Burr (Young) Boss. She was raised in Hingham, attended Derby Academy and graduated from Hingham High School in 1946. She attended the Modern School of Fashion and Design and The Chamberlain School of Retailing. She was married to Houston Thomas Davis. The couple moved to Duxbury in 1951. She was a former member of the Duxbury Frostbite Society and The Duxbury Yacht Club. She was passionate about historic preservation and was a member of several organizations devoted to that cause. She served on The Duxbury Historic Commission. She enjoyed art and international travel. She was an active and long standing member of The Duxbury Art Association and The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society. She volunteered much of her time and especially enjoyed helping out at the election polls and the Duxbury Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Burr Davis and is survived by her sister Sylvia (Boss) Lepmanis of Sequim, WA. She also leaves behind her children Marguerite Thomas "Missy" Davis and her husband Randy Smith of Piedmont, OK, William Thornton "Bill" Davis and his wife Brenda of Seattle, WA, Charles Barns "Barney" Davis and his wife Maura of Duxbury, and five grandchildren; Michael Boss Davis of Kingston, MA, Allison Moors Davis and Bradford Anderson Davis of Seattle, WA, Brighid Mary Davis and Garrett Thornton Davis of Duxbury, MA.
A grave side service will be held in the Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury on Tuesday April 27th at 3 o’clock. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to; The Cranberry area Hospice, or The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society.
