Obituary of David James Hanson
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David James Hanson, of Kingston, died in a boating accident on May 12, 2010. He was 20 years old. David is a 2007 graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston and was to graduate this year from Massasoit Community College with a degree in Fire Science. David was an Eagle/Palm Scout with Troop 4480 in Kingston and was an assistant scout master, Eagle advisor with Troop 4480, and also a member of Venture Fire Crew 479. David was a member of Demolay/DW Lodge in Marshfield and Massachusetts Call Firefighter Association. He is a graduate of EMS Academy in Marshfield as a Certified EMT Basic. David worked for Hanover Mall Security with IPC International, Exodus Ambulance of Brockton, and was a Kingston call firefighter. David also served as an altar server at St. Joseph Parish and just returned from a St. Joseph mission trip to Haiti where he helped to build a school for an orphanage and used his EMT skills to help the people of Dandann and Duverger.
David was fulfilling his lifelong dream to become a Kingston firefighter - with the goal of becoming its fire chief - starting with Venture Fire Crew, restoring Surprize Hose Fire House as his Eagle Project, and by being an on call firefighter. David was a fine young man who enjoyed his life to the fullest. He loved helping others, while expecting nothing in return.
Beloved son of Keith and Barbara (Drahan) Hanson of Kingston. Loving brother of Gregory and Eric Hanson of Kingston. Nephew of Catherine Gaudinski of Marlborough, CT, Mary Jane McCue of Farmington, CT, Michelle Gendron of Colorado Springs, CO, and Scott Hanson of Plymouth. David is also survived by many cousins, great aunts and uncles, as well as many friends, including dear friend Crystal Chruney.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 18th from 4-8:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston.
