Andrea and family, Ed and I were devastated to hear of John's passing. He remains in our memory the vital and kind man we always knew him to be. A good man is gone from this earth, but he left so many acts of kindness during his time with us and they remain in our hearts for eternity. He was so good to my three children - a sweet and kind role model for them to emulate. We wish you peace as you deal with the loss of your wonderful husband and father and know that you remain in our prayers.

I am sending all my love and thoughts, as well as my family, to the Heinstadt family. John was my baseball coach during my youth baseball league years. He brought his avid love of the Orioles to our baseball team name. At an age where performance on a baseball field could be intimidating, it was actually fun to play on John’s teams. I also remember John for being such a kind and caring father for his own family and the community of Duxbury. Serving on school board, I actually felt like their was someone fighting for the student’s voice. That was John. We will miss you dearly, but will carry on your legacy of good.

My entire family's thoughts and prayers are with Andrea and John's sons after his passing. John was a great man (despite his love of the Orioles). I will also remember and appreciate his encouragement and support when I grew up in Duxbury. John lived true to the unofficial Navy motto of "Non sibi sed patriae", "not for self but country" with all his service. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this challenging time. Let us know if we can help out in any way.

Andrea, Johnny and Family, I am sorry to hear this sad news. I was lucky to have lunch with John a couple weeks ago and we got into our routine baseball discussion. I loved to challenge John talking about how bad the Orioles were !! We spent many days coaching our sons and took a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame; I will cherish those days and moments the rest of my life. Rocco J. Longo

We were surprised and grieved to hear about John’s passing as we’ve been away for a two weeks. John was a wonderful man we got to know very well over the past 25 years through Holy Family Church, Duxbury High School, Duxbury Youth Hockey and more. John always took genuine interest in both our son’s military service whom were also saddened to hear of his passing. John will be missed. He was a fixture in Duxbury. Our deepest condolences to Andrea and the whole family.

Dear Andrea, Needless to say it was quite a shock when Joe Schillings announced to a group us us at daily mass that John had died during the night. We were all saddened as was the congregation when the visiting priest said that it was not going to be a mass for John's healing, but for a mass for his memory. You, John, and your family will be in our prayers. Keep the faith and be strong,Andrea, knowing that Our Lord is with you. With our love, Sandy and Glenn

Deeply saddened to learn of a good friend’s and fellow Jasper’s passing. Our sympathy and prayers go out to Andrea and all of John’s family.
Happily we had a chance to get together for a short visit last year after almost 46 years. While we won’t fulfill our plans to do it again, it was great to have this visit and fill in the gaps. John’s wit and charm was the same as ever. He will be missed.

Andrea ,
As we were thinking about you and John and the boys yesterday, we remember just how far back we both go , first at the Old Holy Family on St. George and now on Tremont Street, but also throughout our school system with our children.
We will definitely miss John by your side at 7:30 Mass in your “ usual “
seats, knowing John was always ready to help in any way every
week. Sending prayers and blessings,

Andrea and Family, I am so sorry for your loss of this great man. I got to know John from Holy Family, political events, the Kingsbury Club and our weekly chats at Dunkins Ds every Sunday after Mass. Although it was hard to hold a conversation with him there as every patron who walked through the door, knew and enthusiastically greeted John. One memory will always stand out to me and that was when we asked him to be Santa for our Breakfast fundraiser for Appalachia Service Project. I will never forget his response.....Why Not? Isn't that awesome? I loved that answer as it was just his selfless way, just willing to try anything and do whatever he could to help out where needed. And he did a great job! May he rest in peace.

My condolences to the family. I lost one of my dear friends-we had such a
good time whenever John took me to the Doctors-he was patient, had a good
sense of humor, and we had such good conversations. It rained so hard when
John died, because all the Angels were sad.Bless you all-it was an honor and
privilege to have known John. I am leaving for Baltimore, and will be away for 10 days,

Andrea,
I am very saddened to hear the news of John’s passing into God’s kingdom. He was such a wonderful man as you well know. I was very proud to call him my friend and it was wonderful to hang with him. He was a huge help in baseball and Holy Family Church activities. He was a huge help to my doing the confirmation retreats. He had a way about him that the kids loved just as I did. I have to apologize for missing the service which I am sure will be very tough for you and the boys. I wish the best to you always for peace and happiness. God bless you and know that he will be missed.

John Heinstadt was a "True Man for Others" his wit and integrity was matched by no ones. My wife and I always found ourselves sitting behind John and Andrea at Holy Family Sunday Mass. Serving with John on the Youth Baseball board was so rewarding he made ever meeting worth while to attend. I was so glad to meet John and have my son Danny have Andrea as a teacher at Duxbury Schools. Dear Captain Heinstadt as I addressed you on Facebook you will be sorely missed but you legacy will live on forever. Deepest Sympathy The Findley Family
