To Todd, Scott and your families,
I'm sorry for your loss. My mom is Helen Bailey Garuti. She was born 4 weeks after your father. They were cousins and good friends.
She said, "He (Justus) lived out front (on Brewster Rd.) and I lived out back. He used to come over and play, a lot. He would make little toys and we would build roads in the sand." She remembered your dad helping her to get onto the school bus. Their elementary school is at 82 Main St. in Kingston, "where i get my oil from, now." Helen said, "when we had a program, we sat on the stairs". She remembers a prom when "Justus came and sat by me and we had to have a parade of us all coming in, down at the Reed Community Building." She said your grandmother was very stylish.
I remember your mother, Preble, at the 100th Bailey reunion. She worked with us out in the kitchen.
For several years, my mother insisted on getting Justus to Bailey Reunion. I picked him up a couple of times out on Indian Pond Road.
My mom was sad to hear of his passing. She said, "He was my cousin and he was a lot of fun."
