Obituary of Scott A. Wagner

Scott Angus Wagner died in Quincy on Sunday, Sept. 2. He was 58.

Scott, a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, resided in Randolph early in life, making many friends with the neighborhood boys, enjoying games of street hockey and trips to The Linwood. 

He worked his way up through the newspaper industry starting at the age of 16, until he established his first tabloid publication, Night and Day, in 1990. This would later transform into The Buzz Newspapers which circulated in Mansfield, Norton, Sharon, Easton, Stoughton and Randolph.
He closed his company in 2013, which gave him more time to pursue his love of travel. His favorite destination was a two-way tie between the tropical islands of the Caribbean and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, his mother’s homeland. He felt most at home on the water, and he loved spending time on his boat and fishing with close friends.

Scott was a perfect host who enjoyed throwing big parties and backyard barbeques. He had many friends over the years and enjoyed countless nights  listening to Irish music and spending time with those he loved most. 
He loved history, and a good brunch spread, and he had a passion for cooking. No one has ever been able to match his famous mashed potatoes (although his daughter has tried for the past 20 years).  He spent a great deal of time following world politics and the news. He loved dogs, specifically Kaiser and Ava, and his grand-dog Beverly. Scott was a devoted sports fan, rooting for the Boston Bruins his entire life — and he especially loved bragging about his beloved team to his brother, a Tampa Bay Lightning fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Kirby, and her husband, Thomas, of Plymouth; his son Matt Wagner, and his fiancée, Kim, of Bellingham; his son Rory Wagner, of Easton; his brother, Jim Wagner, and his wife, Stacy, of Tampa, Florida; his sister, Sharon Reddington, of Whitman; his grandchildren David, TJ and Violet; his nephew Josh Reddington, of Whitman; and his niece Meg Wagner, of Brooklyn, New York; as well as extended family in Canada and many friends. 

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Elma Cameron Wagner, and father, Richard Wagner.

Visiting Hours  will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Carver from 2:00 to  5:30PM on Sunday, September 9. A prayer Service will follow at 5:30PM. Interment  will take place at a later date in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
