Obituary of Andrew P McDermott Jr.

Andrew P. McDermott, Jr., 72, of Halifax, MA died Aug 2 surrounded by his  family at the Faulkner Hospital. He was the loving husband of Catherine (Bombace) McDermott for 48 years. Loving father of Stephanie of Halifax and Angela of Plymouth. Andrew was the son of the late Andrew and Bertha (Boyle) McDermott. He was the brother of Mary Ellen Dugan of Charlestown and the late Susan Cannizzaro and the late Donna Thomas. Papa of his beloved grandson Jackson Frizzell-McDermott. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Rita Bombace Hill and a brother-in-law Walter, and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Andrew was born in Charlestown MA and he moved to Halifax in 1970. He served in the US Marine Corp in Viet Nam attached to the 3rd Marine Division, 1st Amtrac BN, CO.B 4th Platoon from 1965-1968. Retiring from his job as a truck driver for Coca Cola, he enjoyed being outside, traveling, being a papa, uncle and dad.

Visiting hours from the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St., Pembroke, on Thursday August 8 from 4-8PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday August 9 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Halifax, at 9AM.
