Obituary of Robert D. Boyle
Robert D. Boyle, 78, of Pembroke, formerly of Duxbury, passed away on August 5, 2019. Beloved husband of more than 28 years to Florence (Cormier) Boyle. Loving father to Anita L. Boyle of Brockton, Pamela J. Boyle of Brockton, Robert L. and Jennifer Boyle of Rockland, and step daughter Nancy M. Huff and her fiancé Michael A. Davis of Duxbury. Robert also leaves his first wife's son Sean Loughran of Wilmington. Son of the late Robert J. and Beulah (Raymond) Boyle. Brother to Raymond and his wife Valerie Boyle of Hanson, and the late Gary M. Boyle and Paul Boyle. Cherished grandfather of Craig Sears, Sarah Sears, Ethan Boyle, and Brayden Boyle as well as Justin, Cody, Shane, and Jakob Jordan, and great grandfather to four. Robert is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his extended family and friends.
Robert was born in Quincy. He honorably served on active duty in the reserves of the US Marine Corp. He worked at the Quincy Naval shipyard as a machine operator for two years. For 32 years he worked at Boston Whaler as a boat builder and tooler making molds for the Whalers. He worked at R&F in Pembroke, making precision instruments for a year. He grew up and spent most of his life in North Pembroke. He enjoyed traveling, and salt, fresh, and ice fishing. He was a huge sports fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. He also enjoyed taking his children to Duxbury beach in the summers. He lived in Duxbury for 15 years. He volunteered at the Duxbury senior center delivering meals for the homebound, and serving lunches at the center. Bob loved visiting relatives in VT every year. He enjoyed many cruises and travelled to multiple states including Alaska and Hawaii.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 11th from 1-5:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St (Rt.14) Pembroke. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 12th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St, Duxbury. Graveside services will follow at the Mayflower cemetery in Duxbury.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Robert’s name to your local animal shelter.
