Obituary of Myler G. Schneider

Myler G. Schneider, 78, of Duxbury, passed away peacefully Monday, November 5, 2019.  Myler is now right where she wants to be, holding hands with her best friend and loving husband of 49 years, Chris F Schneider Jr.  She is survived by her son Christian “Skip” F. Schneider III of Braintree, MA and her brother Tony Greene (wife Norma) of Portland, ME, stepdaughters Karen Pastuszak (husband Jim) of Rupert, WV; and Linda DeRoo (husband Don) of North Hampton, NH.  Also survived by grandchildren Jack and Bowman Schneider; Scott, Chris and Elise DeRoo; Kristine James; and also her very, very special nieces and nephew; Wendi Taylor, Nancy Miller, Rebecca Lynch, Carolyn Flanders and Christian Pedersen. 

Myler was born in 1941 to Anthony William Greene and Rachel May Teele in Needham MA. She graduated from Needham High School in 1959 and Principia College in Elsah IL in 1963.  Many of Myler’s summers in high school and college were spent working for the Chestnut Hill BenevolentAssociation in Chestnut Hill MA. After college she did a program at the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston that really gave her the ability to thrive and stay organized in her many endeavors to come. In 1966 she met the love of her life, Chris and Myler were married Sept 23 1967. Soon after they moved to Duxbury and started the Ski and Racquet Shop. For almost 25 years the Ski and Racquet was the epicenter of activity in Duxbury. As a team, Chris and Myler did an amazing job weaving their business into the central fabric of the community. Their life revolved around this business that they poured their heart and soul into. They did an amazing job at this. Customer service was the hallmark of their business and they truly treasured and loved each and every one of their employees as members of their Ski and Racquet Family. It was a one of a kind atmosphere. After the Ski and Racquet Shop closed its doors, Myler continued her bookkeeping career working for Welch Health Care and then Bayside Marine Corp. She loved keeping things organized and running efficiently. 

The true soul of Myler’s life stemmed from her love of family and friends, she was always the organizer of get togethers. She loved to include everyone and made everyone always feel so special and welcome. Myler and Chris could often be found on their boat cruising in Duxbury Bay, Chris fishing and Myler accompanying him. She was also an avid tennis player and had a real passion for flowers, flower arrangements and gardening.Once grandchildren arrived on the scene there was nothing they wanted to do more than attend a game, go skiing with them or just enjoy watching the children laugh and grow. In 2017, whenChris passed away it was very hard on Myler, she eventually moved to the Duxbury Village when she met some old friendsand made many new ones. Myler’s true passion was caring about others, family, friends or strangers, no one was left out.She always opened her home to everyone.
