In loving memory of Anne Sances
Anne (Doyle) Sances passed away peacefully at her home in Halifax on May 20th 2020, at the age of 92. Anne was born in South Boston to the late William P. and Hannah G. Doyle. After marrying the love of her life Joseph P. Sances, they started what turned out to be a very large family. After many years in South Boston, they continued to grow their family in Rockland, MA.
Anne was predeceased by her husband Joseph P. Sances and was the loving mother of their 10 children. She is now reunited in heaven with their sons Michael Sances and William Sances, as well as her brother Francis X. Doyle and her twin brother William P. Doyle. She is survived by her sister Patricia Vuilleumier and children; Joseph P. Sances Jr. and wife Kathy, Paul Sances, Anne Stelmash and husband Steve, Stephen Sances, Michelle Rylander and husband Alf, Karen Graziano and husband George, Patricia LaPlante and husband Chris, and Robert Sances. At 76 years old Anne found love again with Patrick Hawes and they spent 10 wonderful years together before he passed in 2012.
As a loving grandmother, she was known as “Grammie” to 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Survived by many nieces and nephews who absolutely adored their Auntie Anne. She will be greatly missed by her loving friends and neighbors at Halifax Mobile Home Estates.
Anne was a proud graduate of Nazareth High School in South Boston. She went on to work for New England telephone prior to starting her family. She then, dedicated her life to raising her family, especially after losing her husband Joseph at such a young age. In 1992 she moved to Halifax where she enjoyed delivering the chit chat newsletter and organizing trips for the seniors in the Park. She was so grateful for the help of her devoted son Bobby. He enabled her to remain living independently at home in her later years.
Anne had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her adoring grandchildren. She took great pleasure in the simple things in life, such as, visits to “her” beach (aka Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA), enjoying a cup of coffee and a donut, listening to a good book, trips to Foxwoods with her sister Patricia, long phone calls with her grandchildren, and selecting just the right hat for a special occasion.
Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA on Saturday, May 23rd, 2020, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
