Obituary of Diana M. Masood

Diana M Masood, 83, of Duxbury, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on November 17, 2020 at The Phillips House at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Daughter of the late Habib Bistany and Freda Bistany, Diana was born in Roslindale, MA.  Diana leaves behind her siblings Barbara Bohammed of Ventura, CA, Carole McHugh of Kingston, MA, and Edward and his wife Brenda Bistany of Griffin, GA.  Diana also leaves behind her 6 children who made her life complete: N. Daniel Masood of Cranston, RI; Gregory M. Masood (Olya) of Katy, TX; Christopher (Ruth) Masood of Marshfield, MA; Peter G. Masood of Clifton, VA; Andrea Tougas (Roger) of Duxbury, MA and Alexandra Perrigo (Jonathan) of Cranberry, PA. The sunshines of her life were her 16 grandchildren: Danny, Michael, Nicholas, Keyla, Matt, Samantha, Hannah, Michael, Maddie, Gabe, Sarah, Nathan, Sydni, Joshua, Ivan, and Mila, and her beloved 4 great-grandchildren: Annalyiah, Kenzie, Abby, and Olivia.

Diana was a graduate of Roslindale High.  Besides her children, her greatest accomplishment was getting her registered nursing degree while raising those 6 children. She started at the age of 38 and finished her degree at age 42, graduating in 1979 from IVCC School of Nursing.  In 1985, she received her RNC in Maternal and Child Care and worked the remainder of her career as a labor & delivery nurse at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley, IL, Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA, Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, NY, and Jordan Hospital, Plymouth, MA. 

After her 22 years of nursing, Diana spent her time as a volunteer at the Duxbury Thrift Store  and the Duxbury Senior Center.  She was also a member of the Community Garden Club of Duxbury.

Diana had many hobbies such as cooking for her large family, painting, knitting, traveling, and she could always be found reading books.  But her greatest joy was being with her family and singing You are My Sunshine to her grandchildren.

All are welcome to Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston, on Thursday, November 19th from 3-7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday November 20th at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.

Her family would also like to recognize the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center for the exceptional care Diana received over the last five years.  Thank you to all of the staff who went above and beyond with their care and expertise.
