Obituary of John A. Munro

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John A. Munro, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on December 21st at the age of 88.

John was born and raised in Brockton and spent most of his adult life in the city.  He was a Baker by trade and a good one.  He worked for many different companies including the Liberty Baking Co., where he was part owner during the 1970s, as well as Heartland, Purity Supreme, Stop & Shop and Montilios.  He never really retired from baking - enjoying baking pies, his specialty, for his family and giving out his baked goods from home daily to the wonderful Meals on Wheels drivers from the Kingston Council on Aging as a thank you for checking in.

John loved to go to yard sales and thrift stores and was always looking for a good deal. He was an avid collector of beer steins and sports memorabilia and he had an enviable collection which will be cherished by family. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and especially loved traveling with his wife, Ann.

John was married to Ann M. (Solomita) Munro for 58 years before she passed in 2013. He is survived by his daughter, Susan M. and her husband, Stephen P. Adams of Middleboro; son, Paul J. and his wife, Linda (Pieroni) Munro of Marshfield; daughter, Diane L. and her husband, Thomas Visser of Bridgewater; son, Stephen Munro of Derby, Connecticut and Denise (Huxley) of Kingston, married to son, Thomas V. Munro who predeceased John in 2008.   He was blessed with nine grandchildren as well as two great-grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and in-laws.  His two sisters, Inez Simmons and Gloria Burke predeceased him.  He recently was saddened by the loss of his longtime friend and Best Man, John Witiaz. He and his wife Bonnie were lifelong friends.

Family wishes to thank the Norwell VNA & Hospice and The Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham for their compassionate care and support.

Family would like to suggest donations to the Kingston Council on Aging in our father, John Munro’s name, to help support their Meals on Wheels Program.

Because of COVID precautions there will be a Celebration of John Munro’s Life at a later date for family and friends.
