Mary Madeline “Madie” Luca, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother passed away peacefully on July 21st in Duxbury, MA.
She was born in 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Margaret and Domenic Lampariello. Raised in Brooklyn, she graduated from Hunter College in 1954. Madie married her high school sweetheart, Ralph, in 1955. She received her Master’s in Education from Brooklyn College in 1959. In 1962, Madie and Ralph and their three children moved to Mount Vernon, NY. She taught kindergarten and first grade at Traphagen School for over twenty years. In retirement, Madie embarked on a new career in the gift shop at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Harrison, NY where she volunteered for over twenty-five years.
In 1979, Madie and Ralph moved to Mamaroneck, NY. They enjoyed many wonderful summers and made lifelong friends at the Colony Beach Club in New Rochelle, NY and Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck, NY. They travelled all over the world and enjoyed going to Aruba every November and to Newport, RI every June with their family.


In 2016, Madie and Ralph moved to Duxbury, MA where they could be closer to their now eight great-grandchildren (Benjamin, Madeleine, Lucy, Josie, Oliver, Abigail, Saraphina, Andrew and another due in December). She was affectionately known as “Gigi” to them. Madie’s favorite pastime was being with her family. She was a great organizer of all family gatherings and celebrations.


Madie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ralph, her daughters Cindee Dacey and her husband, Rick, Maureen Rappoli and her husband, John, and her son Keith Luca and his wife, Doreen. Madie is survived by her grandchildren, Caitlin O’Connor (and husband Matt), Christopher Rappoli (and wife Molly), Cristin Heacock (and husband Barrett), Michelle Smith (and husband Brian), Steven Luca, Nicole Rappoli, Alyson Luca and Megan Luca. Madie is also survived by many dear relatives including, Edward Small and his family.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Madie’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

A Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 27 at Holy Family Church in Duxbury at 10:00AM. Burial services will be private.
