Obituary of Timothy J. Turner
On August 28th, 2021 at 7:47am, Timothy James Turner passed away at the age of 57 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Timothy passed away at home in his bed surrounded by his wife Julia & his two children Eileen & Joseph.
Tim was born on July 7th, 1964 to Alfred Turner & Eileen McGuirk Turner. He grew up in Kingston Massachusetts with his four siblings Alfred (Tom) Turner, Michael Turner, Susan Munford, & Mark Turner. After graduating from Silver Lake High School, Tim went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology & spent his career as a skilled senior design engineer. If you ask his family, though, Tim’s most valuable engineering contributions were the school projects of his kids, nieces, & nephews. From leprechaun traps to full-on trebuchets, Tim was always happy to assist & exceed expectations on whatever project came through his workshop.
Tim’s wife Julia & his children Eileen & Joseph will miss sitting on the beach with their father the most. They will never forget their nightly trips to Plymouth Beach, or their August trips to Saquish & walking down to the penny-candy store with their dad. Joseph & Eileen are very much looking forward to bringing their own children to the places Tim cherished & made so special for them when they were kids.
One of Tim’s most prized possessions was his family house in Gorham, New Hampshire that he had taken over from his beloved late grandfather, Alfred J Turner. Some of Tim’s happiest moments were seeing this home filled with his spirited nephews & nieces Jacleene, Jayne, & Ryan Turner, Stephanie Staples, Christopher & Natasha Munford, Marina MacLean, Jamie & Sean Reilly. For years to come, Tim’s family will continue to gather there & honor his memory in this special place he loved so much.
Tim had a passion for hockey & shared a special bond over the sport with his brothers Michael, Tom, and Mark. Tim loved that the next generation was just as passionate about hockey as he was & loved to see his son Joseph Turner & nephews/niece Neale, Nick, Andrew, Nathan, & Katie LaPlante-Johnson out on the ice.
Tim’s closest confidants were his brother-in law James Munford, his sister-in-law Jenn LaPlante, & his best friend Jim MacLean who all make sure to share stories about Tim’s authentic character as often as they can.
Tim’s family hopes that he is now enjoying the company of his parents Alfred & Eileen & his mother-in-law Marjorie LaPlante. His family imagines that he must be catching them up on all of the fun he had this year zipping through the mountain trails of New Hampshire with his family on his new ATV.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday September 1st between the hours of 4pm-7pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. Kingston Massachusetts. Thursday a service will be held at 10am at the Shepherd Funeral Home immediately followed by a burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Timothy’s family is welcoming all family and friends to come and share in telling good stories as they say goodbye to an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, & son.
